Simply put, they are playing Student Politics, so they jump on any passing bandwagon so they can signal their virtue with no thought of the long term consequences. You see it in their right-on pontifications about Donald Trump and suddenly they find they've got to build a working relationship with him and his team.

Like most politicians, they are highly intelligent idiots.

What really boils my piss is the way they deliberately bend the numbers to suit their own narrative.

WASPI were granted compensation, not reimbursement, nothing like £10bn.

My wife is “owed” £62,000. She was expecting £3000.

There is/was no £22bn black hole until Labour made it.

And in a new Department for Pissing Money up the Wall, Ed Millibrain is even now inventing ever more inventive ways of making money disappear.
